Brunch at Square 1682

It’s been a while since I’ve dined at a restaurant since the pandemic began. I decided to take baby steps and have my first brunch outing in 2021! I hopped on my OpenTable app, did some browsing and made reservations at Square 1682.  This restaurant is located in Center City at 121 South 17th Street, Philadelphia PA 19103. It’s also conveniently located downstairs in Philly’s Kimpton Hotel Palomar.

Once I arrived, it didn’t take long for me to pick out some yummy items. The first thing I ordered was the steak and eggs cooked medium, served with sunny-side up eggs and potatoes. I really enjoyed my steak. It was very tender and juicy.  Who doesn’t like good steak for brunch? I know I love it!

The second brunch item chosen was the chicken and waffles. This came with a fluffy buttermilk waffle and fried wings glazed with sambal and honey. This was a great sweet and savory choice. If you’re not familiar with sambal, its usually a chili sauce or paste.  If you like a hint of heat to your food, then I recommend trying the chicken and waffles here.

At the end of a meal, I usually like to end it with dessert or cocktail. Today, a cocktail seemed appropriate. It’s been a while lol. I really wanted a margarita, but I ended up ordering a Moscow Mule. This was made with Tito’s Vodka, ginger beer and lime.

I felt great after experiencing my first foodie outing of 2021. Last year, 2020, was a pretty crazy. I felt a little safe considering Square 1682 took great precautions in adhering to the necessary and required safety procedures that now have to take place during this covid pandemic. I just hope things will get better and things will try to get close to as normal as it can possibly allow. Thank you Square 1682 for a peaceful and refreshing brunch. I’m already looking forward to my next outing!
